Identify PLL cases using the six stickers in the top rows of the front and right faces
Six-sticker recognition lets you identify a PLL case by looking at just the six stickers in the top rows of the front and right faces. With practice, it can reduce the time you spend inspecting the cube and deciding which algorithm to use during PLL.
This tutorial is for cubers who are already comfortable with all 21 PLL algorithms and want to make their PLL recognition faster.

HeadlightsThe two corner stickers on one face match, while the edge sticker between them is a different color.3×1 blockThe corner, edge, and corner stickers on one face all match.Inner 2×1 blockTwo matching adjacent stickers sit next to the seam between the faces. Here, the right two stickers on the front face form the inner block.Outer 2×1 blockTwo matching adjacent stickers sit away from the seam between the faces. Here, the left two stickers on the front face form the outer block.BookendsThe corner stickers at the far left and far right of the six-sticker view match.CheckerboardTwo different colors alternate in a consecutive sequence.
